Default Belkin n52 macro legal?

Before people whine, I searched and it only came up g15 related.

My question is, can you use the Belkin/Razer n52 macro functions?

I don't know how the g15 macros but the n52 does it through drivers I believe.

Legal? Illegal?

Technically, No its not ok with EULA but if you set up a reasonable mouse macro to click your sweets or open your Presents, youll never get caught or anything.

But technically its not 'legal' or whatever.

No macro is legal, period. There is a chance you would not get caught but I don't think that would last very long. Once they catch you using your macro keyboard you will be banned, there will be no second chances or carry over to Guild Wars 2.

It's a very gray area, one which Anet is reluctant to give a firm response about. On one hand, they've said things like the G15 are legal (and your mouse's software looks very similar to that of the G15/G11), but "third party software" that interacts with the game is technically against the EULA.

You take a risk using ANY macro software, whether it's software used by your mouse/keyboard or something else.

What you want to pay attention to is how you use that keyboard/mouse software. Anything that strings multiple actions together in a fashion that your human input is barely needed or that executes commands in a way that is much faster than a human player could normally accomplish will get you in to serious trouble.

Be careful.

Anet doesn't so much care HOW you do it but WHAT you do. If it automates gameplay, they'll likely come down on you even if you just rigged a yo-yo to press C + SPACE every 30 seconds...

All you need to do is to not automate stupid things.
For all anyone cares, make a macro to spam 500 title points in 20 seconds, noone cares.
Just don't expect to not be flagged as suspicious if you automate a sequence of the same keystrokes with the exact same intervals for a long period of time.

You could probably make a drunkard macro, but just don't leave it running for 8 hours in a row while afk like people used to do a while back.

Will go out on a limb here and say Macros are legal in the game and will not get you banned.

There is one proviso and that is what you set the macro to do in the game because its that they are interested in not the use of macros generally.

If the macro you set up would give you a definite game advantage over other players then a ban could well occur.

If its just to make some game functions less boring than its no big deal.

The EULA states:
Quote:
including but not limited to the use of 'bots' and/or any other method by which the Service may be played automatically without human input
So as long as you have to be there to use your macro, you should be in the clear.

Ironically, by this EULA, by putting a hammer on your arrow key while deathleveling is illegal. Why?
A) Automates gameplay
B) Third party tool (Literally)
C) Gives you a distinct advantage over people who do not own hammers (No DC due to inactivity)

The thing is Anet cant even catch macro users in PvP and areas where it matters, so theres no way they are going to find you if your using a simple double click macro for your booze or what have you.

There is no way for them to tel the difference between a 3rd party Autoclicker, a mouse macro system, or just a person sitting and clicking away.

You didnt specify what you are using the macro for, but if its just to double click stacks for you, make a reasonable interval between clicks and youll be fine

Anet won't ban you. They don't ban botters recorded on youtube. They don't follow up reports. If they don't catch you specifically do to manipulation on the the dat. file they don't care. In short, they only ban gold sellers.
